A  watercolour and ink, commissioned by my sister in law. I painted the once family home of the Clyburn family with ease, recalling all the love that was lived within the mint coloured weatherboard’s of this little cottage.

A familiar Australian weatherboard home, where family and friend’s gathered, laughed, cried, shared food and were loved unconditionally. I know all that first hand. I also know how much Nanna Ag loved to sweep that verandah with her straw broom.

Painting this was a trip down memory lane. Working form a photo showing only a portion of the house, no rose bush or tank in sight and the family dog long since gone. as we collaborated to piece together little details such as: Where was the tank ? In Australia they are not usually right out front but we all agreed, this one was. What colour the rose bush?  Together we spent quite a while on finding the ‘mint’ exterior. Then came to mind a quite comical story about that wooden verandah and someone falling through it! Maybe I will just have to write a blog about that one.

If you have a home you would like remembered, in ink and or watercolour, take a look at my commission information and enquiries on the drop down menu under Contact and lets have a chat. I quite loved this one as an ink line drawing in the drafting stages.
